Zimpel, SyIke

Discover the choral music of Sylke Zimpel, a German composer, choral conductor and lecturer based in Dresden. She studied composition in Dresden and choral conducting in Weimar and Lyon, and has worked as a freelance composer and conductor since 1986.

Zimpel’s compositional work focuses on choral music for all types of ensembles, including settings of modern poetry and arrangements of folk songs, particularly from Eastern European and Jewish traditions. She has received several prizes and fellowships for her work and founded the chorbühne TRITONUS Dresden and the women’s choir femmes vocales.
