Vytautas Miškinis: Child Heart (SSA, piano)

A charming collection of three expressive works for children’s choir and piano, combining lyrical melodies, gentle rhythms and emotionally engaging texts. Child Heart explores themes of childhood, tenderness, love and imagination, offering young singers music that is both approachable and artistically rewarding.

The collection includes:

1. It is not your name
A thoughtful and intimate piece dedicated to Miškinis’ grandchild Mija, with a text by Aurelio Porfiri. The gentle Tranquillo character and expressive vocal lines create a reflective atmosphere, making this an excellent choice for a more emotional concert moment.

2. Lullaby
A tender, dreamlike lullaby built around the reassuring words “Sleep, tenderly sleep, do not be afraid.” The soft, flowing vocal writing and delicate piano accompaniment create a warm atmosphere that gradually fades into silence.

3. And I will call you love
A warm and lyrical setting about love, trust and the special bond between a child and a parent. With its moderate tempo, flowing piano part and expressive choral writing, the piece offers a beautiful closing statement for the collection.

Child Heart is a compact yet versatile collection that works particularly well for children’s choir concerts, festivals, competitions and educational programmes.
