Tullio Visioli: Un fiume è un filo (SA, Piano, Percussion)

Prize-winning work — “Nuove Musiche dalla Livenza” Composition Competition 2022

Tullio Visioli’s Un fiume è un filo (“A River Is a Thread”) is an imaginative work for two-part choir and instrumental ensemble, celebrating rivers as living threads that connect landscapes, cultures and generations. Roberto Gallo’s Italian text explores the river’s changing character, from the small creatures carried by its currents to the memories and encounters gathered along its course. Modal writing and sounds reminiscent of Indian classical music give the piece a distinctive colour, while piano, glockenspiel and cajón add rhythmic variety. The work culminates in a festive musical dance. A strong choice for children’s or treble choirs seeking an accessible, vivid programme piece with an environmental and human theme.
