Nancy Telfer’s The Flower Song is a light and playful work for SSA female choir a cappella, inspired by the colours, scents and beauty of flowers. Written in a charming madrigal-like style, the piece combines repetition, two- and three-part canons, and flowing harmonic sections.
The music has a graceful, dance-like character and can be performed with optional movements, allowing the singers to physically illustrate the flowers, colours and fragrances described in the text.
