János Vajda: O magnum mysterium (SATB)

János Vajda’s O magnum mysterium is an expressive a cappella setting of the traditional Latin Christmas text for SATB mixed choir. The music opens quietly and unfolds through chromatic vocal lines and shifting harmonies, creating a sense of mystery and quiet contemplation. As the text moves from the wonder of Christ’s birth to the image of the Virgin Mary, the contrasting vocal parts gradually build the musical tension before the repeated Alleluia brings the work to a powerful close.

A distinctive choice for mixed choirs seeking thoughtful, contemporary sacred repertoire for Christmas programmes.
