Herbert Paulmichl’s Fünf geistliche Motetten, Op. 176 is a collection of five contrasting sacred works for SSAA women’s choir a cappella. Drawing on Psalm texts and the traditional Ave Maria, the set moves between joyful praise, rhythmic energy, intimate prayer and contemplative expression. The varied character of the individual motets makes the collection particularly useful for concert programmes, church services, festivals and choir competitions.

The collection includes:

  1. Cantate Domino, Halleluja – Psalm 96:1–2
  2. Jubilate Deo – Psalm 66:1–2
  3. Wie die Hinde lechzt – Psalm 42:1–8
  4. Cantate Domino – Psalm 96:1–2
  5. Ave Maria – traditional liturgical text

From the celebratory Hallelujah of the opening motet to the more reflective “Wie die Hinde lechzt” and the devotional “Ave Maria,” Paulmichl offers a balanced selection of sacred choral music with contrasting moods and expressive possibilities.
