Vytautas Miškinis’s Veni, Veni, Emmanuel is a contemporary setting of the traditional Advent hymn for SSAA female choir a cappella. Based on the Gregorian chant melody, the piece combines flowing vocal lines with expressive dynamic contrasts and gradually developing textures.
The music moves between quiet, intimate passages and powerful climaxes, while the recurring “Gaude, gaude” creates a strong sense of anticipation and celebration.
A beautiful choice for female choirs looking for expressive contemporary Advent and Christmas repertoire.
