Ivo Antognini’s Salve Regina Mater is a contemporary setting of the traditional Latin Marian prayer for TTBB male choir a cappella. The music combines lyrical vocal writing with more rhythmically active passages, moving between intimate, restrained sections and stronger, more expressive moments.
The four-part writing uses contrasting dynamics, repeated vocal phrases and shifting textures to create a sense of movement throughout the piece, with brief solo passages adding further contrast.
