Ivo Antognini: Ave Maris Stella (SSAA)

Ivo Antognini’s Ave Maris Stella is an intimate and expressive setting of the traditional Latin Marian hymn, written for SSAA female choir a cappella. The music opens quietly and delicately, with subtle humming textures and lyrical vocal lines, before gradually developing into more contrasted and expressive passages.

With its changing dynamics, carefully shaped phrases and rich four-part writing,  it offers a focused and atmospheric setting of the well-known text.
