Nancy Telfer: Ninety-Nine Names of God (Mixed choir)

A distinctive a cappella work for mixed choir (SSAA TTBB) built around a flowing succession of names and attributes of God. Nancy Telfer moves between gentle, sustained choral writing and more rhythmic, energetic passages, gradually building the music from intimate phrases into a powerful full-choir climax. With its rich vocal texture and unusual text, Ninety-Nine Names of God offers something different from a conventional sacred choral piece and can make a memorable addition to a concert program.
