Colin Mawby: Ave Maria (SATB)

Colin Mawby’s Ave Maria is an expressive setting of the traditional Latin prayer for SATB mixed choir. It opens with a freely shaped, Gregorian-inspired melody before developing into rich harmonies and increasingly active vocal lines. The music builds towards the central invocation of “Sancta Maria” and returns to a gentle, reflective atmosphere for the final Amen.

The divided parts and chromatic harmonies require careful attention to intonation, making this a rewarding choice for choirs seeking expressive sacred repertoire.
