Battista Pradal: Make Me a Picture of the Sun (SATB)

Battista Pradal’s Make Me a Picture of the Sun is a playful and expressive setting of Emily Dickinson’s poetry for SATB mixed choir a cappella. The music follows the poem’s vivid imagery, moving from the warmth of the sun and a robin on a stem to butterflies, frost and changing seasons.

Pradal combines rhythmic energy with lyrical passages and changing dynamics, giving the text a lively, imaginative character. Repeated phrases and shifting meters create a sense of movement, while the contrasting quieter sections add warmth and intimacy.

A distinctive choice for mixed choirs looking for contemporary a cappella repertoire with playful imagery and expressive vocal writing.
