Aurelio Porfiri’s O Sacrum Convivium is an expressive setting of the traditional Eucharistic text for SSAA female choir. Gentle opening phrases develop into richer vocal textures, with carefully shaped dynamics and flowing lines that highlight the text’s spiritual depth. The music calls for a blended, sensitive sound rather than a romantic style, making it well suited to sacred concerts and liturgical programmes.
For performances during Lent, the composer recommends replacing the final Alleluia with the alternative text provided in the score.
