Prize-winning piece of the Composition Competition “Nuove Musiche dalla Livenza” 2020
Cicerenella by Annalia Nardelli is a lively setting of a traditional Italian nursery rhyme, designed as a musical story for children’s choir. Playful verses introduce Cicerenella and her animals, while piano and percussion create a buoyant rhythmic backdrop. The score incorporates theatrical elements, inviting individual singers to step forward and imitate a mule, a rooster, a dog and a cat. The closing circle dance encourages movement and creative participation, making this an engaging choice for primary-school choirs and children’s concerts.
